GEEZER and the KID
Adventures in Flight

Ron and his eleven year old daughter Kari experienced an amazing adventure together in the summer of 2007.  Starting on the first day of summer they flew in Cessna Cardinal N13HK from their home base in Los Angeles, California across the burning Mojave desert first to the Barstow-Daggett Airport and the on to the Kingman, Arizona Airport.  They then flew to the rim of the Grand Canyon and then on to the heart of the Navajo Nation where they made an exciting landing on a very rugged runway.  The apex of their adventure took them to Durango, Colorado before turning back by way of Gallup, New Mexico and on to Sedona, Arizona.  Their entire adventure took only ten days during which they travelled well over 1200 nautical air miles and viewed more than 250,000 square miles of southwestern American scenery.  Join Ron and Kari on their great adventure in GEEZER and the KID, Adventures in Flight.

The FAA Will Kill You

The Federal Aviation Administration is charged with the extremely important task of keeping all aviation in America safe.  In performing that task the FAA has done a superb job overall.  There are, however, some horrendous gaps and missteps that indeed could lead to unnecessary flight related death.  For example even in this post September 11th 2001 world the FAA imposes no restriction whatsoever on the purchase of any civilian aircraft.  So even Osama bin Laden could buy a great big jet should he choose to do so, the FAA would not stop him.  Also the FAA allows instrument flight instructors to teach other people how to fly under instrument conditions even if that instructor has never once actually flown in a cloud.  In fact a pilot never has to ever fly in real instrument conditions to receive and maintain his FAA approved Instrument rating.  Would you trust a surgeon who had never before actually cut into a person?  The FAA also has a history of being on occasion extremely petty and vindicative and has literally ruined the flying careers of some of our finest pilots without just cause.  And the FAA has for a long time and continues to this day to frequently cover up its own potentially deadly mistakes.  These and more serious problems are dealt with and solutions are offered in The FAA Will Kill You, a powerful must read book.
